Stop comparing! Full stop!

You're scrolling through instagram,  Facebook or flicking through the latest issue of your favorite magazine. You enjoy looking at everyone's latest post, until you stop on that one photo and you start thinking thoughts like 'why can't I be like her' 'look at her, she's so skinny and I'm not' 'she always looks pretty and here I am trying to fix my hair'.

Sounds familiar?

As teenagers we're always comparing ourselves and it isn't good! As I've said in my previous posts, you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

I believe it's time to stop this cycle of comparison. I tell you the truth!! Someone's always going to seem better in your eyes and in someone else's eyes you're going to seem better. So it's time we stop!  Be yourself!  You are an amazing individual and there's no point comparing yourself to someone who was designed to be different.  I mean did you ever have to do project in school comparing something that was totally different.  Of course not!  I mean how could you compare it if they aren't even the same thing in the first place??!

Find your identity and worth in God!  Not in this material, never lasting society that will tell you,  you need to meet their 'standards'. You will never be that girl in the magazine or on instagram because you are you. Full stop!

My Next Adventure!!!!

In 14 days and 16 hours I'll be getting on a plan to head of to YWAM to do a DTS (Discipleship Training School).

What is a DTS you ask?

A Discipleship Training School is six months of personally experiencing God and living the adventure of taking His message to the nations. It's an intense, full-time program consisting of two parts - lecture phase and outreach phase. The 12 weeks of lecture phase will cover a diverse range of topics to do with personal character growth, understanding the Bible, and developing musical skill. Following three months of lecture phase, my DTS will head off for three months outreach.

The DTS school begins July 6 and lasts 6 months: 3 months of that will be spent on outreach were we'll go out into the world as a team to spread the love of Christ through ministry and music. The 12 weeks of lectures cover a diverse range of topics to do with personal character growth, understanding the Bible, and developing musical skill.

I'm doing a Music DTS in the lovely city of Perth and I don't extremely know everything I'll be doing... But I'll be updating you all on my journey here on my blog. Posting photos and telling you all about my adventures that I'll get up to.

I'm both excited and nervous at the same time!! Your prayers and support would mean a lot in this next journey of my life. I know it's going to be an amazing season of my life where I'll learn more about myself and about God. I can't wait!!! :)

God bless,

Why I Eat Healthy!!!

If you haven't noticed by now from all the healthy recipes on my blog, I eat quite healthy (or at least I try to). I enjoy it! When I started my healthy journey and made the choice to do it all, I chose to do it with God. I didn't want to do this without Him, because I've learnt the hard way when you try to do something by yourself.. You never fully succeed!

So many people have given me weird looks on what I'm eating or have constantly asked "are you on a diet?" hahah.... Oh the amount of times I've had to explain why I am eating a salad instead of chips.

I never chose to live a healthy lifestyle because I thought it would make me better or people would like me more or that I would even love myself more.

Before my journey I told myself I had to make sure I made the choice to love myself. Not just on the days I feel like it or have eaten well.... But even on the days I'm having a 'fat day' or have stuffed up continuously.

Every morning I've made the choice to get up, look in the mirror and tell myself that I am beautiful the way I am. As dorky as that might be..... It reminds me that I don't need to be someone I'm not. God made me, me and there will never be a better me! So I don't need to strive to have a 'skinny' body or even strive to be so called 'perfect. Life's not about that!

I've learnt in the past being focused on wanting to be skinny, I was only hurting myself. It's not about being skinny, it's not even out being healthy. It's about living your life for God. Making Him your number 1 in EVERYTHING!!!

He is the reason I live, the reason I sing. And the reason why I eat healthy! I want to look after the body God has given me. I want to be healthy and fit, to be the best person I can possibly be. I nourish my body with delicious, healthy, whole foods. While also looking after my body by trying to get my body moving when I can.

I believe that it is important to look after your body, but I also believe in treats and having treats now and than. I'm not on some sort of a diet or have body image 'problems'. I've chosen to live a healthy lifestyle! It's a lifestyle, not a diet with an expiry date.  It's about looking after my body and wanting to be a better me. Because striving to be a better you is fine. It's like the talents you have been given! You're responsibility is to either just look at your gifting or choose to work on it. The same with your body. It is a temple of God! It's the only body you have and the only one you'll ever have. Make the choice to look after and love your body.

Being skinny, bigger, taller, shorter doesn't change the fact that God made you beautiful. Yes it's easy to find flaws in how you look, but always remember to love yourself. You don't need to try and be something you were never called to be. Enjoy this life you live and learn to love yourself!

My Morning Green Smoothie

Since I've been in a green smoothie mood... I decided to post my quick on the go, energy, delicious smoothie recipe. This  is a very basic green smoothie and can be adjusted in anyway to make your own version of a green smoothie.

I've written the recipe out so it's easy to follow and understand. There are so many reasons why you should give a green smoothie a go!! Green smoothies are fun and a great way to start the morning as spinach/kale are really really good for you and both have protein. So does the greek yogurt! :)

Bananas are best in the morning as they are great source of energy and help prevent muscle cramps. Cinnamon isn't just DELICIOUS!!!! But it's so good for your body as it lowers blood sugar and it's great for lowering your cholesterol. So for those who have a high cholesterol, cinnamon is perfect for you!

Just a few ingredients blended together in your blender can make a perfect combination to kick start your day. Just five ingredients and you've got a drink that doesn't just taste scrumptious but so so good for you.

Enjoy!!

And These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things.... for May 2014

I don't know about you, but I'm having serious trouble believing that it's now half way through the year. How crazy is that?!?!!And as usual here are my Monthly Favourites!

Reading..... For those who are like me and love cooking up a storm in the kitchen... This book is perfect! It's by leading Australian nutritionist Lola Berry and the her cookbook is just plain AMAZING!! Many of you know that I'm very much into eating healthy and giving your body the nutrients it needs.
If your going to invest into a healthy cook book, this is the one I would most definitely recommend! The cookbook is full of healthy and exciting food that I've been loving!! It's sugar free, easy to follow and full of lots of delicious recipes.

Watching.... Once upon a time I was sitting in front of the TV watching Once Upon A Time... Ok that was a little cheesy, but seriously! I'm kind of obsessed with this TV show!! It's about all the fairytale characters who have been put under a curse and are trapped in our world. Watching this show is like watching a long movie that never seems to end.

Listening.... I'm a big fan of Kari Jobe and her new album Majestic is so enjoyable. And my favourits song of the album right now is Forever!

Not my image
Using.... Ok this one is a little random but I've been using Paw Paw cream non-stop all this month. Especially because the weather is getting colder my lips seem to be getting really dry, so using this every time before I go out for the day or even before I go to bed, gives moisture to my lips.

Drinking.... Breakfast Smoothies!!! I've seem to be drinking breakfast smoothies every morning for the past few weeks. Which is funny because you'd think I'd be wanting something warm as it's now officially winter! haha... But no! My body doesn't roll that way!

He Came To Save The World

John 3:16-17 says:
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."

I love this verse because it reminds us that Jesus came to save us!! All of us! "For God so LOVED THE WORLD...". He came for the world, to save the world! Not only for just the 'Christians', but all of us!!The murders, the abusers, the constant sinners and yes even those 'party' kids in school! He loves us all and wants all of us to have a relationship with Him. To save all of us!

You are the light that shines bright for God! You could be the only bible someone will ever read.

That's why we are called to shine our light, called to make disciples. We are called to pick up our cross and follow Him! To be the witness for those who do not know Christ!

We are all called to be in relationship with God. So don't label someone as the 'party kid' and think they will never become a christian. Because even those who have turned far away from God, have turned to Christ and accepted Him as their Lord and savior. I mean take Saul, also known as Paul in the bible. God used Him in such a miraculous way to make a difference!
